Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend in NYC
October 12, 2011
By: Major James Bush, Signal Corps, Queens, NY

The event was like the movie Inception. It appeared that the event planted an idea that evolved into a thirst for knowledge to become a man. To become a successful man! It provided an exposure to a congregation of simple men, who have similar backgrounds to the participants, but have become successful in the eyes of the world. The event showed the kids what a respectable, successful and honorable man should be like.  The kids appeared to want to become a better person, a better citizen and a better man. The event was full of opportunities to tell, to show, to learn and to share among the participants in order to transfer a boy into a man!

The National Mentoring Camp takes place every year over the Father's Day Weekend at Steve Harvey's Dallas Ranch.
During the weekend of November 18-20th we had 100 mentees from Atlanta and the surrounding counties participate in the Atlanta camp held at Morehouse College.

LA was our first regional camp in 2011. We are looking forward to returning in 2012. Stay tuned for application submission dates.
The mission of The Boys Mentoring Weekend Program is to share, teach and demonstrate the principles of manhood to young men, enabling them to achieve their dreams and become men who are strong, responsible and productive.
